The Battery Park Hotel was built in 1924 by Edwin Grove who also built The Grove Arcade and Grove Park Inn. The hotel is 14 stories high with 220 rooms. The hotel was built of reinforced concrete with brick, limestone and terra cotta with a Mission Revival roof. The architectural style was a mix of Neoclassical and "Spanish romanticism". A roof dining area, lounge and open terraces provided breath-taking views of the city and surrounding mountain vistas. The hotel continued in operation until 1972. In the 1980s the hotel was converted into apartment for senior citizens.
